Lavender Big Band

Due to the busy and varied lifestyle of musicians, we operate in a way that allows the band to be fully functional whilst aiming to be flexible to your needs. Our permanent member holds the position (trumpet 1, for instance) but if they are unavailable for events we send out an open-call email where you can sign up to take part. Once the band is fully established and we are running frequent events, this will result in varied performance opportunities for different people.

You can sign up as a performer to be added to our mailing list and be sent open-call opportunities. These open-call emails detail timings for rehearsals and performances, allowing you to pick events scheduled around your timetable. Whilst we are primarily looking for saxophonists, trumpeters, trombonists and rhythm instruments (piano, drums, guitar, xylophone etc.), we do sometimes have opportunities for other instruments so please get in touch if you would like to be considered.

We run both in-house and bespoke events. In-house are organised by us to raise money for the band and help with venue cost and instrument hiring. Bespoke events are put on with members of the community and all profits go into a personal fundraiser that they set up. We have made this split so that you can get the most funds out of an event as possible alongside the band being able to support itself through it’s own events as well.
